Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo, California hired consultants to study power savings by various alternative-energy systems, and concluded COGEN was the best alternative. SDP installed a 500kW system for use in their dormitories to heat the showers and provide electricity.  The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy has been saving 21% on power bills using a 250kW SDP COGEN plant. In total SDP has placed nine (9) COGEN systems on the East Coast, eight being 250kW plants and 1 being a 150kW plant.
