SDP landed on September 1, 2008 a 1 MEG COGEN project for installation and service at NONG SHIM FOODS, INC. (NSA), a Korean noodle maker with a USA factory in Rancho Cucamonga, California. The 15 year return on the project exceeds 60% annually. The plant has logged 2 ½ years of run time and is averaging 94% of projected profile hours available based on NSA loads.

Savings on electricity average over $.06/kW. NSF is buying 2-3 year gas strips from SDP to lock in  low gas futures prices and guarantee the attractive pay back in savings on their power bills. SDP installed the system for around $1650/kW after incentives.

The COGEN plant is preheating water entering two 750kW boilers. Run time started at 71% of available hours as projected, shutting down on weekends, and increased 10% a year until full capacity was reached. NSA will add capacity in 2012.
