Controls Description and Function |
|
SDP uses the ComAp Family of NT controllers. The NT controllers are comprehensive AMF-controllers for single and multiple generating sets operating in stand-by or parallel modes. Synchronizer, isochronous load-sharer, Mains and Generator protections allow for a total integrated solution for gen-sets in stand-by and parallel modes with multiple engine support. NT family controllers are equipped with a powerful graphic display showing icons, symbols and bar-graphs for intuitive operation, which sets, together with high functionality, new standards in gen-set controls. The controller automatically starts the gen-set, closes the gen-set C.B. when all conditions are met, then stops the engine on external signal or by pressing push buttons. Parallel to Mains operation can be achieved without additional HW. Forward and reverse synchronizing, Mains protection including vector shift, load and power factor control, earth fault protection are the major functions provided. Interfacing to foreign synchronizers and load sharers is supported. The key feature of NT family controllers is their easy-to-use installation and operation. Predefined configurations for typical applications are available as well as user-defined configurations for special applications. The Control system is completely adaptable for all Balance of plant configurations and can control external devices like chillers, fans, pumps, and other devices. Intelimains NT connects multiple SDP Gen-sets to the mains and allows reverse synchronizing of the gen-set group operating in multi island mode to the mains or the another group of gen-sets, controls mains C.B. or bus-tie breaker, measures mains power, power factor, reactive and apparent power, 3 phase system import/export. Intelimains NT is equipped with a powerful graphic display. This controller also incorporates Icons, symbols and bar graphs for intuitive operation together with high functionality and gives the SDP system the ability to perform Peak shaving, partial or full mains breaker and tie breaker control, and load shedding of non critical loads during island operation. Controls SoftwareThe SDP and ComAp Software InterfaceIntelimonitor
Every SDP Unit comes with PC SCADA software for supervision of single or multiple Units. This software is configurable for site structure, data logging, graphs, history logging, and complete operation. It incorporates security and yet is easy to use. The multi-tier system gives the end user the ability to limit users access and yet still allow access to individuals with a need to see what the
plant or unit is doing. Gen Config
As part of the standard software package Gen Config is included as a configuration software module. This powerful software is the tool used to set up the plant and all the different modules available to the Comap controls family. Intelisupervisor
This software is the Crown Jewel of the ComAp interface Mods. Intelisupervisor is the Windows Based monitoring and control software for a fleet of gen-sets equipped with the ComAp NT family of Controllers. This Interface uses the Internet to allow Direct access to information about the state, run hours, power, maintenance conditions and plant conditions at multiple gen-set plants simultaneously. Conditions, such as alarms, can be automatically downloaded to a local computer for triggering services or operations monitoring. The software interface is a Map based visual display which shows all sites in country/state on one screen for easy monitoring. Information from a fleet of units can be automatically downloaded at customer defined intervals for any of the customers needs. Engine Controls and ComponentsEngine Control
The Engine Control system is the Woodward ProAct Integrated Speed Control (ISC). This state-of-the-art system combines the proven ProAct electric actuator with the integrated speed control software to control the speed of the SDP Cogen Unit. The ProAct is a microprocessor-based speed control incorporated into the actuator, creating a single integrated actuator/speed control. This eliminates the need for an additional driver box and speed control, lowering maintenance concerns. The ProAct uses speed sensing and control algorithms. It has self diagnosics for easy troubleshooting. The SDP Cogen can be configured and tuned using all software access including power loading graphs. Engine Ignition
The Motortech MIC 500 is a microprocessor-controlled, capacitive discharge ignition system capable of supplying ignition energy for the SDP engine system. Integral to the MIC 500 series is the one timing adjustment potentiometer. This has a programmable ignition span of 38 degrees crankshaft rotation. Additional methods for adjustment are by means of integral speed curve and linear analog signal. Two stage adjustment is also possible for biogas or dual fuel applications. This system uses camshaft triggers and flywheel triggers to provide relative position reference. This information is used by the microprocessor to provide accurate reliable ignition in even the toughest of conditions. This system is also rated for hazardous conditions to ensure compliance. The Engine Emissions ControlEmissions Control is accomplished using the latest from Gill Controls. The AF120 Air Fuel Ration (AFRC) Control system is designed to continuously monitor the oxygen content of the engine exhaust, and vary the ratio of the fuel to ensure optimum combustion and gibe optimum conditions for the SDP / DCL Three way catalytic conv erter. The function fo the AFRC is to control the operation of a bypass fuel valve by monitoring the output of the engine exhaust-mounted Oxygen Sensor, using its integral UEGO (widebanc) sensor interface, such that the engineperformance and exhaust emissions are accurately maintained to the required specification. The AF120 contains a UEGO interface with PI control loop that takes the Oxygen Sensor signal as its input and controls the Fuel bypass valves position to achieve the set point as set-point exhaust oxygen level. With this technology the UEGO sensing system is able to control engines to Stoichiometric (Lamba1) or Lean air fuel ratios.
SDP has developed an emissions control system incorporating 3 stage Catalyst technology which meets some of the most stringent regulations. The MINE-X® Catalytic Converters effectively reduce engine exhaust including NOx, CO, Hydrocarbons, Formaldehydes and are the industry standard for long, reliable, life operation. The three-way catalyst is used in rich-burn or stoichiometric engines for simultaneous conversion of oxides of nitrogen (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), formaldehyde (CH2O)and EPA classified Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs).The three-way catalyst is effective in a wide variety of engine applications and fuels, including natural gas, propane and Biogas. The MINE-X® Catalyst is a perfect match for the AF120 AFRC and ensure the SDP equipment stays in compliance.
